The BASIQ International Conference Series

The BASIQ International Conference Series: New Trends in Sustainable Business and Consumption was launched in 2015 by the BASIQ Association (Association for Innovation and Quality in Sustainable Business).

The BASIQ Association was established by a group of university professors from the Department of Business, Consumer Sciences and Quality Management at the Faculty of Business and Tourism, within the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. Today, the association comprises 78 dedicated members – teachers and researchers from Romania and abroad.

BASIQ Association’s Commitment

BASIQ members are committed to advancing and disseminating knowledge in the economic field to promote:

  • Innovation, Quality, and Social Responsibility in business.
  • The modernization and competitiveness of companies.
  • The performance of public policies aimed at the consumer, the business environment, and society at large.

The primary activity of the BASIQ Association is the annual organization of this international conference series.

The Vision: Why BASIQ Matters

The conference series was initiated recognizing that globalization and rapid technological advances are fundamentally reshaping the economy, accelerating societal changes, and elevating sustainability concerns.

These transformations present both opportunities and threats, challenging society’s capacity to responsibly anticipate mutations, make forward-looking choices, and creatively balance aspirations with available resources. This dynamic environment necessitates the contribution of scholars to:

  • Identify new trends and assess their implications.
  • Provide new paradigms and practical solutions.
  • Inform policy makers and business leaders.
  • Accelerate knowledge dissemination.

Conference Objectives and Topics

Focused on sustainable development and social responsibility, BASIQ conferences aim to stimulate a vital exchange of research results and scientific reflections on the impact of recent changes in business and consumer behavior.

Participants are invited to address current and critical topics, including:

  • Socio-Demographic Futures: Anticipating the societal future and major demographic trends.
  • Strengthening Modern Knowledge: Competency-based education and new approaches to capacity building.
  • Emerging Technologies: The adoption, acceptance, and diffusion of key 21st-century technologies (e.g., big data, blockchain, AI, nanotechnologies, electric vehicles, and 3D printing).
  • Innovative Business Models: Value creation for businesses and consumers through new market interactions, open innovation, and collaborative networks.
  • Consumer Dynamics: New values, attitudes, consumption behaviors, and emerging approaches to cultivating a culture of quality.
  • Risk and Regulation: Emerging risks and changes related to consumer rights and protection.

Publication and Partnership Structure

Accepted articles are published in the conference proceedings volume (electronic format) with an assigned ISSN.

Given the itinerant nature of the BASIQ Conference series, each edition is organized in collaboration with a different academic host institution. The host institution’s representatives contribute to the Scientific Committee Editorial Board and Organizing Team, ensuring a strong link with the local scientific community and providing local logistical support (venues, technology, catering, accommodation, and social activities).
